Welcome and Join Us

Welcome to Sydney Uni Hockey Club! As one of Sydney’s largest women’s hockey clubs, we can cater for all players both competitive and social in one of our seven teams.

We would love to have you join us for the season (season beginning early April). Everyone is welcome at SUHC – you don’t have to be a Sydney Uni student to play for the club.

Trials & Preseason

Women’s Performance Program

Teams: 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade

Trial / preseason:

From Tues 3 Feb – Tues & Thurs, 6:30–8:30pm

From Tues 23 Feb – Tues 6:30–8pm & Thurs 6:30–8:30pm

Internal trial matches: Sun 22 Feb & Sun 1 Mar

Practice matches: Sun 8 March & Sun 15 March

Season starts: Sun 22 Mar

Attendance at all trials and internal matches is expected.

Training

All Women’s training sessions are held at Bruce Pryor Hockey Field, Lidcombe.

Performance Squad Training

Teams: 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade

Commences 16th March

Tuesdays 6:30-8pm and Thursdays 6:30–8:30pm (W1), 6:30–8:30pm (W2) or 8-9:30pm (W3)

Club Training

Teams: 4th Grade, 5th Grade, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, Lions (O30s)

Commences 16th March

Open Club Training Mondays 6:30-8pm – all Women’s Club players are welcome

4th, 5th and 6th Grade: Tuesday 8-9:30pm

Competitions

Our women’s teams play in two competition leagues that are both played on Sundays. We will field seven competitive teams this year and one social team (The Lions). Six teams will play in the Sydney Metro League organised by the Sydney Women’s Hockey League (SWHL) commencing on March 22, 2026. Our 7th competitive team and our Lions team will play in the Sydney East Hockey Association (SEHA) competition commencing on Sunday 19 April 2025.

Games for both leagues are played at turfs across the Sydney Metropolitan area.
